Water, Water Everywhere, Paean to a Vanishing Resource
Please join us for an extraordinary exhibition of great importance to all:
“Water, Water Everywhere
Paean to a Vanishing Resource”
“Water is the world’s most crucial resource and the basis for all earthly life. Its preservation and protection may be our greatest environmental challenge. The global water crisis affects everyone, from those lacking enough to those experiencing uncontrollable floods that wipe away homes and land and wildlife.
Water, Water Everywhere is comprised of 30 second to 30 minute films from forty-one artists worldwide exploring water issues from the political to the personal and from ethics to
aesthetics, with works that are documentary, experimental, educational, humorous, solemn, animated or acted.”
(Jennifer Heath, curator)
In harmony with this theme the exhibition will include 2 and 3 dimensional work by regional artists.

Avery Point’s own Professor Paul Hallwood has another book available: Maritime Piracy and its Control.

Book Description from Amazon website
Maritime Piracy and its Control develops an economic approach to the problem of modern-day maritime piracy with the goal of assessing the effectiveness of remedies aimed at reducing the incidence of piracy. Miceli and Hallwood’s theoretical framework is based on a standard Becker-type model of law enforcement, extended to consider the effort level of pirates to locate and attack target vessels, and of shippers to invest in precautions to avoid contact. The model provides the basis for prescribing an optimal enforcement policy whose goal is to minimize the cost of piracy to international shipping. It also serves as a benchmark for evaluating actual enforcement efforts within the context of international law and concludes with several proposals aimed at improving enforcement.
